Hello, and welcome to Spread Your Wings Therapy
My name is Lynda Peters and i am a person-centred, (humanistic) online and phone counsellor, based in the West Midlands, with clients all across the uk.
My modality means that you are the expert in your life. There is no goal setting or tasks to complete. The counselling sessions I provide, are there to support and guide you, within a non-judgmental, compassionate setting. This allocated space gives you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace and disclosure of your choice.
As you process your experiences, and the origin of these, you can develop a deeper understanding and clarity of your way of being, and why you are you.
This process can increase your feelings of self worth, esteem, and confidence, leaving you with feelings of empowerment, improved boundaries, and freedom within.

Frequently asked questions - Therapeutic
How is talking to a counsellor different from talking to a friend or family member?
I am trained to listen without judgment, and to help you explore your thoughts and feelings, and support you in finding your own way forward. Those you know may hold their own opinions, or agenda for your way of being.
Will you give me advice or tell me what to do?
Not usually—counselling is more about helping you explore your own thoughts and choices rather than giving direct advice. It's about walking alongside you as you figure out what feels right for you.
Frequently asked questions - Emotional safety
What if I get upset or cry during a session?
It’s completely okay to get emotional—tears, anger, silence, or laughter are all welcome in the therapy space. You don’t have to hold it together here; part of the work is giving yourself permission to feel.
Is it normal to feel nervous, awkward, or unsure at first?
Yes, that’s a really common and understandable way to feel in the beginning. Starting counselling is a brave step, and it takes time to settle in and feel safe enough to open up.
Frequently asked questions -Progress and Expectations
How will I know if it’s working?
You might notice small shifts—feeling lighter, thinking differently, or coping better day-to-day. Progress can be subtle, but we’ll check in together along the way.
What if I don’t know where to start or what to talk about?
That’s completely okay—many people feel that way at first. We can begin wherever you are, even if that’s just talking about how unsure you feel.
